Attendance / Report an Absence

It is a parent's responsibility to report the student's absence within 72 hours.

If the absence is not reported within the time specified, it will be considered an unexcused absence regardless of the reason for the absence.

If your child has been absent more than 10% of the school days enrolled, then a doctor's note will be required for each absence recorded.

Tardy / Late to school

Our doors open to receive students at 7:30 a.m.  Instruction begins at 8:00 a.m. A student is considered tardy if he/she is not in the classroom and ready to learn by 8:00 a.m.

Excessive tardiness will result in a truancy notice and/or referral. If a student arrives after 8:20 a.m., it is considered a partial day unexcused absence, unless a doctor's note is provided.

The instructional day begins at 8:00 a.m. daily and all parents without an appointment or without a need for assistance, are asked to exit the building no later than 7:50 a.m.

If a conference with the teacher is needed, please contact the school counselor at (972) 749-4024 to schedule an appointment during the instructor’s conference time.

Doctor's Notes
When your child visits the doctor, dentist, or any other health professional during the school day, make sure to get a signed note from their office stating the appointment date and time. A copy of the note should be turned in to the office as soon as your child returns to school. If it is requested that your child remain out of school for an extended period of time, those exact dates must be noted on the excuse.

Early Dismissal
If you need to pick up your child from school early, please call the front office at 972-749-4000 or email Ms. Kiser at erkiser@dallasisd.org. Please provide the reason for the dismissal. Students may not be dismissed after 2:30 p.m.
